Strength and Fitness for Healing Trauma

“As we age, we tend to think we’re getting wiser. This hasn’t been the case for me. I found myself struggling through a divorce and maneuvering through life in a new way.

My kids were older, and my identity began to change.  I struggled through many trials, including one that was unthinkable.  I was assaulted.

The damage that this did to me mentally was devastating.  I found myself having panic attacks and unable to function.  I was mentally frozen.  I was a victim. A victim is not something I would ever classify myself as. I am a fighter, but I was in a huge hole of depression and suicidal thoughts.  What can I do to fight for myself?  Workout!  I have always worked out, but I did more cardio than lifting heavy in the past. Lifting heavy helped me build the strength to start living again.

The physical strength began to give me the mental strength I needed to begin healing from the trauma. I began my healing journey by seeking God in some amazing adventures, which included hiking the Grand Canyon and Kayaking in Alaska. I was beginning to survive and hearing messages from God on how I would use my story for His glory.

The healing process is not a quick fix and takes time to work through the damage.  During this timeframe, I had gained approximately 20 lbs.  This was not where I wanted to be.  I decided to attend my first SoulFIT Adventure Retreat . While on the trip, I connected with some great friends and shared about my journey. Some visions were revealed to me.  How can I continue to serve God if I do not fully care for the temple he gave me?  I needed to get healthy mentally and physically.  This is when I contacted Diana to help me with a Hitch Fit Online Training plan.  She got me lined up and inspired me to be the best version of myself.

The journey has been fun. It has been physical but also spiritual. God has been moving in my life and placing the right people, like Micah and Diana, into my life. I decided to attend my second Soulfit Retreat in Mexico. This retreat was all about transformation. Micah and Diana created a space to be inspired and moved by the Holy Spirit. It was a huge awakening for me and what God has for my future. I am so grateful to them and their obedience to God.

My health journey will continue, and I will keep transforming physically and spiritually.  This is only one chapter of my life.”
